The name of the city: Our Lady of Peace was awarded to the city during its foundation by Alonso de Mendoza. It was the third city founded in the current territory of Bolivia after Sucre (1538) and Potosi (1545). Its name commemorates the restoration of peace after the civil war that followed the insurrection of Gonzalo Pizarro against Blasco Núñez Vela, first viceroy of Peru.
DAY 01
Departure by bus from La Paz to Oruro, then take the train to Uyuni. Reception and transfer to hotel. Accommodation.
DAY 02
Breakfast. Visit to the Train Cemetery. Departure to hrs. 10:30 towards the town of Colchani place of cut and manual extraction of salt in blocks, eyes of water and hotel of salt. Visit to Inca Island Huasi, also called Isla Pescado by the way it has, is characterized by its calcareous surface, full of capricious caves and giant cacti of 8 to 10 mts. Refreshment. Arrival to the town of San Juan where you will spend the night. Dinner.
DAY 03
Breakfast. Departure towards the Ollagüe volcano, which can be seen from a viewpoint, as well as the lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota; Honda where there are three species of flamingos as well as other smaller birds. Lunch. Visit in the route of the desert of the Siloli, with unique landscapes amidst sand and mountains, visit the Stone tree, continuing towards Laguna Colorada. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 04
Breakfast. Departure from Laguna Colorada to the geysers or Sun of Tomorrow that have a release of vapors of sulfur and heavy water. Also we will see the craters of different colors, fumaroles, thermal waters with possibility to take baths and the desert of Dalí. In the route we will visit Lagoon Verde from where you have a beautiful view of the volcano Licancabur. At 10:00 am departure by regular bus to San Pedro de Atacama (1 hour trip).
