During our adventure we will be well taken care of by our professional team of English speaking guides, cooks and wranglers with their mules. We also have some supporting saddle horses for the ones who rather ride than hike. With spectacular glacial vistas, uninterrupted beauty and solitude, this is a spectacular trip for seasoned trekkers who love a true outdoor adventure.
Day 01: Cusco – Ocongate – Tinqui
We leave Cusco in a private bus to Urcos town, and drive along the Cusco – Puerto Maldonado route, passing through some of the most beautiful scenery that Peru has to offer, then pass Ocongate town until we arrive to Tinqui (3800 masl), where we sleep in a local lodge. This is about a 7 hour bus ride.
Day 02: Tinqui – Upis
This day we will begin our walk. We will spend about 5 hours trekking to the camp, passing by Quinsapucyu, Huarmisaya until we arrive at Upis which offers fantastic views of Ausangate.
Day 03: Upis – Pukacocha
We will hike to our first pass witch is Arapa, at approximately 4958 meters above sea level, and then continuing down the valley in the afternoon to the camp at the turquoise Lake Jatun Puqa Qchr(39)ocha. where we will camp near the lagoon of jaton Puqa Q’ocha. From the campsite you can climb the small ridge north of the camp to see Lake Vino Qchr(39)ocha (named by the locals because it is sometimes red like wine due to glacial sediment coming down from nearby red mountains.) At night we may hear the sounds of ice breaking away from the nearby glacier and falling into the water.
Day 04: Pukacocha – Jampa
We will visit a group of small lakes, from then we will direct us to the highest pass of our trekking, the pass of Palomani at meter above sea level, and at dusk we will arrive to Jampa.
Day 05: Jampa – Komerqocha – Pachaspata
We will go toward the valley of Jampa, surrounding it for the northwest until we arrive to the Ticllacocha lagoon. Then we will cross the last pass located at 4,650 m. (15,250 feet). Passing it we will arrive to the pampas of Pachaspata, where we will camp in the banks of the Qomercocha Lake.
Day 06: Pachaspata – Pachanta
We will descend to the valley until arrive to Pachanta town. In Pachanta, we will take a rest and take a bath in the thermal waters of the place.
Day 07: Pachanta – Tinqui – Cusco
Then of a brief walk, we will arrive to the highway, where a vehicle will be waiting for us in order to drive us to Cusco.
